The Shield – Summary

  • Try and be natural when performing this. Allow your body to do what it wants to do naturally but  remember one key element which is to allow the most forward hand to collapse exposing your solid elbow bone.
  • Where possible aim your elbow directly in front of you and raised slightly higher than your shoulder level. This works on a basic assumption that most attackers will be slightly taller than you.
  • If you want to build psychological strength, look directly down your elbow into the attackers eyes. You will quickly appreciate how much damage the elbow can do when the attacker walks into it.
